From the Journal

  • Jack Vettriano: The Elegance of Suspended Time
There is a precise moment in a room—or on a wind-swept beach at twilight—when conversation stops, and atmosphere takes over. It is the territory where Jack Vettriano built his visual signature: an unashamedly narrative world defined by cinematic elegance, composed sensuality, and the quiet ritual of human connection.
  • Tamara de Lempicka: The Architecture of Desire and Power
Great art often enters our lives through unexpected portals. For me, the journey into the world of Tamara de Lempicka began not in a museum wing, but on a film screen, framed within the sharp shadows and dark Art Déco aesthetics of a Batman feature. In that cinematic setting, her canvases immediately stood out: bold, sculptural, hyper-modern figures that demanded absolute attention.
  • Edward Hopper: The Geometry of Silence and Unscripted Connections
That chance encounter at a diner counter did not merely lead to a memorable afternoon in front of Hopper’s masterpieces; it turned into a lasting professional relationship that eventually brought me to deliver lectures at New York University (NYU).
